The Starbird Chicken Story

It all began in a small kitchen in Sunnyvale, California, where founder Marcus Reid experimented with bold spice blends inspired by his travels across Asia and the American South. His dream was simple: create starbird chicken that people would travel across the city — or even the country — to taste.

In 2012, the first Starbird chicken location opened its doors at 1241 W El Camino Real. Lines formed before the sun rose on opening day. Word spread quickly about the uniquely crispy, deeply seasoned starbirds that set our recipes apart from anything else available in the United States.

The First Location Opens
